Why Should You Entrust Your Trip to Us? Or Anyone at All?

I wanted to write this entry to give my point of view on why we should be entrusted with the responsibility for your vacation, or why delegate it in the first place to anyone.

To answer this, I need to start by explaining why Brighter Latitude exists.

I worked in corporate for around 15 years, my entire professional career, working for some of the biggest US companies around, like HP, Pfizer, Walmart, and Boston Consulting Group, where I worked in analytics, finance, logistics, learning and development, you name it, I did it all.

I learned how to navigate the political landscape and did fairly well. The culmination of my career was being asked to move abroad, to Portugal, to help build a new team for the European market.

At this stage, the corporate landscape was not giving me much in terms of learning, which I was resenting, as this is a key pillar for me: how much growth can I get from each role?

I had this conflicting feeling of dealing with the climax of my career overlapping with a sense of stillness. I should have been thrilled, but I was not.

In parallel, the move to Europe widened my perspective. I met an incredible community of entrepreneurs and felt the spark of growth once again. They incentivized me to do something on my own, even just as a hobby. They challenged me to use what I knew and build something from scratch, no matter what. Just start something.

That forced me to introspect on what skills I had built at the core.

I had my industrial engineering major, a finance MBA, a marketing MBA, a data science specialization, and 15 years' worth of ground-level experience of being a keen listener, understanding problems, dealing with uncertainty, making sense of complexity, and shedding light on very complex decision-making processes.

I had all this, but now I was asking myself, “What do I actually do with this?”

Then it just hit me.

I loved my home country. Leaving it behind made me realize what an incredible place it is, and every conversation I had with people asking me about it ignited something in me.

So I said, “Why not make this about Costa Rica?”

I could use all the skills I had developed to do something I knew I could add value to other people's lives with: bringing both my expertise in my home country and my ability to deal with complexity and ease customers' lives, so they could focus on enjoying a tailored experience.

Even my experience as a yoga and meditation teacher and practitioner came in handy, as it gave me an understanding of deep-level experiences that only a spiritual practice can offer, and I could use that to shape the end-to-end experience.

Once I started, it was a rush.

The amount of learning, how all my previous experience felt cohesive, it all made sense. My career had prepared me to take that leap.

Brighter Latitude was the result.

If I didn’t think this could be value-adding, I would not have bothered at all.

There are tons of information sources, like travel blogs or AI, where you can get ideas, but they won’t be tailored for you. And you can use services, something like Meta Muse, to handle the bookings, but that is also part of an incomplete experience, not tailored for customers.

That is the gap I genuinely believe I can serve.

And the last question: why delegate this to anyone?

You actually don’t have to.

Many people enjoy doing the research themselves, and we don’t think those people would benefit from our services, as it would be taking something away from their experience.

This is meant for those who enjoy planning and booking more as a chore.

Spending weeks on blogs or spreadsheets, over the phone or email after email, while keeping a busy life with work, family, etc.
